New modes of production, service models and digital solutions

The Turku region and Southwest Finland is an internationally dynamic and modern technology industry hub, where artificial intelligence, robotics and automation are combined in previously-unseen ways. We’re especially proud of the biggest cruise ships in the world, top-notch mining vehicles and premium cars. According to an international study in 2019, Turku is ranked as the seventh most innovative city in the world.

Due to the decades-long legacy of applied ICT expertise, our companies’ production methods are among the most modern in the world. The data platforms, huge engines and applied modern welding automation produced in our region are central to the making of success stories around the world. The Turku region is a forerunner in the use of, for example, Big Data, robotics and sensor technology. The region offers an authentic environment for the piloting of new innovations and future solutions. Finland also has the best 5G coverage in the world.

The power of networks

TechTurku is a close and diverse network of companies, research and education institutions and municipalities. It offers excellent conditions for the production, development and future innovations of internationally significant and competitive products and services.

On a national level, we work closely with Business Finland and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

The Robocoast EDIH consortium focuses on the digitalisation of the manufacturing industry. Business Turku Ltd is responsible for digital maturity and investment issues in the consortium. The activities will help companies to find investors at the stage when they have a proven product and the will to grow and internationalise.

The Robocoast consortium’s strengths include expertise in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, automation and robotics. It is coordinated by Prizztech Oy, a Pori-based company, and includes universities in the regions of Southwest Finland, Satakunta, Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, Central Finland, South Savo and Kymenlaakso.

The Robocoast EDIH innovation cluster will become operational in autumn 2022.
