Strong entrepreneurial atmosphere in Southwest Finland
The entrepreneurial atmosphere has traditionally been positive in Southwest Finland and the Turku region. The recent Regional Prognosis 2022 compiled by Varsinais-Suomen Yrittäjät association and Osuuspankki bank looked into the experience of entrepreneurs regarding the matter.
The entrepreneurial atmosphere in Southwest Finland is rated slightly higher compared to the previous year. In a comparison by region the ratings of entrepreneurial atmosphere improved in the Turku region, Salo region and Turunmaa region compared to the previous year. In the Turku region, entrepreneurial atmosphere is rated slightly better than in the province on average.
The entrepreneurial atmosphere can be considered to be very good on the whole, and the share of respondents that rated it excellent or good increased in all other regions except for the Loimaa region. At the provincial level, 56 per cent of the respondents considered the entrepreneurial atmosphere at least good.
The Regional Prognosis also inquired about the opinion of entrepreneurs on the functioning of the basic services in their own municipality. 57 per cent of the respondents rated them excellent or good. Satisfactory rating was given by 29 per cent, and only 7 per cent rated the basic services poor. Of the Turku region municipalities, the best ratings for the functioning of the basic services in their municipality were given by entrepreneurs in Naantali, Kaarina and Lieto.
The survey used as the basis for the Regional Prognosis was implemented in the first two weeks of November 2021 among members of Varsinais-Suomen Yrittäjät. The number of answers totalled nearly 800.
