CleanTurku – Bold actions for sustainable growth
There is a strong cluster of cleantech and start-up companies in the Turku region that renews the traditional industry. High expertise is based on a long research history in natural sciences and chemical technology which have created the basis for new innovations. The business operations of the most important companies are based on the handling of biomasses, industrial by-product flows and waste materials, and processing them into new products.
Bio economy, cleantech and circular economy are the key to green growth. Decreasing natural resources and climate change require the utilisation of new technologies and offer Finland an opportunity for growth. Bio economy, cleantech and circular economy companies account for one-third of the country’s total exports, and as many as every fifth Finnish company is included in those lines of business.
CleanTurku companies utilise and develop technologies, processes, services and products that minimise the environmental load. Clean solutions for global markets are being developed in Turku. The companies represent international high standard in material and process know-how with applications including e.g.:
– Development of bio energy and fuels
– Processing of biomass
– Handling and processing of industrial by-product flows
