Maarit Merla the new Board Chair of the Finnish Bioindustries Association
In April, the Finnish Bioindustries Association appointed Maarit Merla as the new Board Chair. Only a few months earlier, Maarit became a Board Member of the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland. We wanted to have a closer look at who is Maarit Merla and what are her views on the Finnish drug development industry.
Presently, she is the Head of Business Development at Forendo Pharma, a Turku-based pharmaceutical company focusing on novel therapies for women’s health. The company has three programmes in their pipeline, the most advanced being the Endometriosis Programme, which is entering Phase 2 clinical studies. In late 2019, Forendo Pharma entered a licensing and collaboration deal with one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, Novartis.
